Ready your voices for carols
Jerilderie’s popular annual Carol Service will be held at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, on Sunday, December 10 starting at 7.30pm.
This year the Bishop of Riverina, the Right Reverend Donald Kirk, will be officiating, so you can be sure of an inspirational evening, not to mention the opportunity to raise your voices and join in some well-loved Christmas music.
Everyone is welcome, and refreshments will be provided after the service.
The St Stephen’s Anglican Church community is grateful for the support given to its bounteous Christmas hamper raffle.
This year we have two chances to enjoy the lovely goodies the ladies put together for their fundraiser.
The two lucky winners will be announced at the carol service on December 10.

It was pleasing to see a good cross section of young and not so young at the recent ‘getting to know you’ barbecue for newcomers to Jerilderie.
The informal gathering held on a balmy evening at Luke Park, and organised and hosted by Murrumbidgee Council, gave ‘old’ residents the chance to meet new neighbours, and newcomers the opportunity to find out a bit more about what is available in Jerilderie.
Various organisations in town had representatives on hand to talk to the ‘newbies’, and councillors and council staff donned their aprons and ‘host hats’ to make sure everyone was well fed, happy, and looked after.
Parishioners of St Joseph’s Catholic Church and the community of St Joseph’s School will be holding a morning tea in the school on December 10, after the 10.30am Mass.
This is to farewell Father Blaise Kurek, who will be moving to the parishes of Ganmain/ Coolamon in January 2024, after 12 years serving the parishes of Jerilderie, Coleambally and Darlington Point. Please bring a plate of simple food to share.
Father Cyprian Onuarah will be administrator of St Joseph’s parish Jerilderie from mid-January 2024.
A reminder that a free road safety workshop will be held at the Monash Media Room, Jerilderie Library this Friday, from 10.30am to noon, to help people over the age of 65 to make safer choices when driving, walking, using a mobility scooter, or catching public transport. A light morning tea will be provided.

Fourteen members of the Jerilderie Hospital Auxiliary held their last meeting for the year last Thursday at the Jerilderie Hotel, followed by a copious two course Christmas luncheon with trimmings.
The next meeting of the auxiliary will be in February 2024, and six members put up their hands to attend the Regional Forum in Finley on March 22.
The auxiliary continues to support the care and comfort of residents and patients, and is currently investigating the purchase of three recliner chairs for the west-end lounge at the MPS.
