Biggest win of season for Curlews

Berrigan Community Bowls Club’s midweek pennant team had their biggest win for the season on the road against Numurkah Gold 72-34 (16-0).

Graeme Clements and his rink of Kura Goldsmith, Gayle Reynoldson and Janice Graham won 29-10, Glenys McKay won 24-10 and Val Chisholm (playing one bowler short) won 19-14. This week the Curlews are on the road again to Tocumwal Golf 2.

The Saturday Division 1 team broke through for their first win of the season defeating Tocumwal Golf at home 60-50.

The most impressive win was Rob Lillis with his rink of Kelly Milich, Rachel Glanvill and Vidura ‘Panda’ Gunaratne who won 19-14. Rick Bradbury on his return to skipping won 27-12 and Graeme Clements went down 14-24. Division 1 is at home to Barooga Sports this week.

Division 3 fought hard all day against a strong Jerilderie team but went down 58-67 (2-14). Stave Gann and his rink of Peter Blake, Jack Buckman and Garry Seamer had their second win in a row 27-21.

For Buckman the win was doubly sweet as he played his boss David Woodward. Alex Dalgliesh was neck and neck all day before losing 16-21 and Glenys McKay lost 15-25. The Division 3 Curlews play Barooga at Barooga this week.

Paul Glanvill and Rick Bradbury will play the final of the Neville Burke Handicap singles on Thursday afternoon at 5.15pm.

Janica Graham and Glenys McKay will play the Betty Cobb final this week. The Men’s and Ladies Pairs starts this Sunday at 10am with entries closing at 5pm Saturday.

Paul Glanvill will represent the Goulburn Murray region on Sunday against the Ovens and Murray representative team.


The final of the 2023/2024 Ladies Club Championship was held on Monday last week, with Judy Harvie winning her second and consecutive championship defeating Effie Eaton.

Judy and Effie also combined to win the 2023/24 Ladies Pairs Club Championship, again winning the event in consecutive years.
