Crucial Cobram clash for Saints

The A-grade Saints travelled to Nathalia to take on the season’s ladder leaders.

Winning the toss, the Saints elected to bat but consistent line and length bowling restricted their ability to score freely like previous games.

Rory Bartlett top scored with 25 after a solid partnership with Brad Loats (14).

Darcy Pyle played a cameo of 15 runs at the end of the Saints’ innings to get the score to all out for 91 in the 44th over.

With a small target to defend, the Saints opening pair of Brady and Rory Bartlett ( 0/ 5) had Nathalia on the back foot early at 3 for 12.

Nathalia put their heads down against the strong Saints bowling when Brady (4/37) struck again.

Lochie Conboy (1/34) then picked up the dangerous Luke Quinn, caught on the boundary, and a run out saw Nathalia at 6/77 after 27 overs.

But Nathalia were able to settle again.

They passed the Saints’ score in the 29th over, finishing at 6/93 and winning by four wickets.

Darcy Pyle collected the Tim Harris Transport Award.
